My First Published Political Cartoon!
Dear blog,
Here is my first published (hopefully) political cartoon. Hillary was by far the hardest, believe it or not. Some people have told me that my Barack Obama looks like a vampire (Eddie Munster, blog, not Count Dracula). For John Edwards I was going for a weird beaver looking guy. John Edwards was the most troublesome because he's actually quite a good-looking fellow.

OBESITY IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!
Dear blog,
I got the cover of The Reporter this week! Isn't that exciting? the topic this week is obesity and as usual I put my own spin on it. This is the first major assignment I've used my markers for in a long time and i think my skills are a bit rusty. I'm not pleased at the lack of contrast, as that is what cover work is generally about, I think. I really need to become more skillfull in my use of black and large, dark shapes. My stuff gets too linear and mid-toney :(

Biggest Bear Ever
Dear blog,
I got an email from my mother today. Here's the email and the bear:
"He was out deer hunting last week when a large grizzly bear charged him from about 50 yards away. The guy emptied his 7mm Magnum semi-automatic rifle into the bear and it dropped a few feet from him. The big bear was still alive so he reloaded and shot it several times in the head.
The bear was just over one thousand six hundred pounds. It stood 12' 6" high at the shoulder, 14' to the top of his head. It's the largest grizzly bear ever recorded in the world.
Of course, the Alaska Fish and Wildlife Commission did not let him keep it as a trophy, but the bear will be stuffed and mounted, and placed on display at theAnchorage airport to remind tourists of the risks involved when in the wild.
Based on the contents of the bears stomach, the Fish and Wildlife Commission established the bear had killed at least two humans in the past 72 hours including a missing hiker.
The US Forest Service, backtracking from where the bear had originated, found the hiker's 38-caliber pistol emptied. Not far from the pistol were the remains of the hiker. The other body has not been found.
Although the hiker fired six shots and managed to hit the grizzly with four shots (the Service ultimately found four 38 caliber slugs along with twelve 7mm slugs inside the bear's dead body), it only wounded the bear and probably angered it immensely.
The bear killed the hiker an estimated two days prior to the bear's own death by the gun of the Forest Service worker.
Think about this:
If you are an average size man; you would be level with the bear's navel when he stood upright. The bear would look you in the eye when it walked on all fours! To give additional perspective, consider that this particular bear, standing on its hind legs, could walk up to an average single story house and look over the roof, or walk up to a two story house and look into the second story bedroom windows."
Isn't that just terrifying, blog?

Drug Stickers
Dear blog,
Every once in a while, Reporter releases a special issue that we spend more time on and put more thought into. The last issue I believe was the Geek Issue where there were multiple covers and two large posters inside- but getting back to the point, blog, the theme this time around is drugs. Here are some stickers that i submitted for this issue. my theme was positive marijuana propaganda (lol!!1)

Here's another of my friend, Shalini. I should also note that I took all the photos off of google image search, but never fear, these are just excercises and I have no intention of publishing, selling, or mass producing these in any way. Your intellectual property is safe with me! I just got a new digital camera so ill be able to take my own pictures when i get home.
Is'nt Shalini sassy, blog?
new technique?
Dear blog,
Today I tried out some overlay techniques that I've never used before. It still needs a lot of work and I'd like to get some feedback from Chad Grohman, the new Digital Illustration teacher. He's young and hip and has half-sleeve tattoos. I know tattoos offend you, blog, but please give him a chance. Anyway, here they are.
